Meeting called to order at 5:30 p.m.
1. Florida Space Coast Yuri’s Night, April 12, 2008
The July meeting of the NSS Space Coast chapter was a great success
with a lot of new faces and big plans. We spent several hours at
Fishlips getting to know each other and talking about upcoming
events. Thanks to everyone that came out!!
Our main topic of discussion was Yuri’s Night 2008 planning. This
year, Ames Research Center had almost 4,000 people come out in a
single night to celebrate space exploration. We think we can top
that, so we’re planning a HUGE event here at KSC next year on April
12. Lots of ideas were discussed including what roles we need on a
planning team.
2. Staffing will be set up for this event. Here are positions:

Ed: Astronomy group, own area on side, light mask behind building
for telescopes
Art: Big set piece / burners, sculptors, fireworks, need creative types.

Theme: Have fun, change image of NASA

Two lavatory facilities, theater and main building
Rocket garden as mingle/talk area with background music, social focal point

Garden and grass separated by stage, can play/face either direction
Enter/exit through fence south of main building, south side of rocket garden

12. STS-118 Launch: NSS Florida to promote NSS to hundreds of
launch viewers at Spaceview Park.
We will have a table set up at the park with free NSS
literature. Mark your calendars and come on out to help.

13. Speaker Meeting at BCC.
We plan to start up speaker meetings.
Action: Tim to continue to discuss options with BCC. Can use either
a Library Room or the Planetarium. This is a perfect location for
NSS Florida Space Coast.

14. Nov 3-11, World Space Expo at KSC

Our chapter hopes to participate in festivities for KSC’s observances
of NASA’s 50th anniversary. There will also be an event to start

16. ISDC 2009: NSS Florida Space Coast chapter has won the bidding
