Nov 17: Chapter Meeting

Location: Merritt Island Public Library, 6-7:15pm

Attendees: Al Udell, Robert Driscole, Tim Bailey, Jen Bailey

Minutes:

1. Shuttle launch next month, STS-122 on 6 Dec.
   • It is a weekday launch, approx. 4:30pm.
   • Tim & Al will be at Space View Park in Titusville with the NSS backdrop & Ad Astra magazines.
   • They will arrive to set-up @ 2:30pm. Everyone is welcome.
2. Yuri’s Night progress.
   • Tim sat in on a Houston YN planning session. They have the plan that Ames used to set-up their party. Houston is working on generalizing it and will send it out so every party can use it.
   • Houston trying to get all 4 NASA center parties (Ames, Goddard, Johnson, & us (Kennedy)) televised on NASA TV. There is also work to get the parties designated as official 50th anniversary NASA events. We’d have to work that locally with KSC folks.
   • Tim is going to talk to NASA PAO Lisa Malone to see what KSC can offer to help out with YN.
   • Chris is planning on talking to the Holiday Inn in Cocoa Beach as another alternative for a YN location.
3. Nominations opened for 2008 officer positions. Voting will be held at next meeting. Nominations will stay open until then.
   • President—Tim Bailey
   • Vice President—Robert Driscole
   • Secretary—Fred Becker (needs to be accepted by Fred)
   • Treasurer – Jen Bailey
4. Website
   • talk about switching to Word Press.
   • Then anyone could be given admin privileges.
   • It would be easier to update, upload minutes, etc.
5. Plans for future meetings:
   • December 11, Tuesday—Holiday dinner meeting @ Beef O’Bradys. Officer elections. Time & location TBD. May use chapter funds to buy appetizers.
   • January 8, Tuesday—Business meeting @ Paddy Cassidy’s in Cocoa Beach.
   • February—Meeting @ BCC Planetarium; shuttle launch
   • March—last minute, wrap-up YN planning; start planning for ISDC in Washington, DC
   • April 12, Saturday—Yuri’s Night
   • May—ISDC in Washington, DC 29 May – 1 Jun. Planning a big showing/preregistration for Orlando ISDC 2009.

Action Items:

• Tim—Order Ad Astra magazines for STS-122 launch
• Chris, please let us know what you need help with for YN planning.
• Tim with help from Fred—Obtain website password information.
• Exec officers—Determine which Beef O’Brady’s for Dec meeting.
