MELBOURNE, FLA.—As part of its Homecoming 2008 festivities, the Florida Tech College of Aeronautics will hold Aviation Day at FIT Aviation on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 9 to 4 p.m. The event will be held on the property of Melbourne International Airport.
Aviation Day offers something for all family members with many static aviation displays, a classic car display, food vendors and a deejay. Several Tuskegee Airmen will be there to discuss their World War II exploits. Visitors will also see two PT17 World War I trainers; a GyroCraft gyroplane; an RV16 two-seat, home-built, single-engine plane; various helicopters; an L39 Albatross; and a Beechcraft single-engine turboprop vintage Air Force training aircraft.
Missionary Flights International will display a DC3 fixed-wing, propeller-driven aircraft; an Air Force recruiting vehicle will bring a Raptor fighter jet; Piper Aircraft Inc. will be on hand to display two new Florida Tech planes with glass cockpits; and the Civil Air Patrol will exhibit two aircraft.
The Classic Reflections Car Club of South Brevard County will turn out with at least a dozen classic cars from the 1930s to the 1960s.
